Sail from Miami to the Bimini Islands in the Bahamas
Set sail across the gulf stream from Miami to Gun Cay pass in the Bimini islands. You will board the sailboat Kiskeedee in Miami and, depending on you and the weather, spend the first day in Biscayne Bay, or depart for the Bahamas. First stop is Gun Cay, an uninhabited Bahamas cay where you can experience the famous turquoise crystal clear water. Snorkel the reefs, enjoy the beaches and explore the island. Other highlights of your visit might include snorkeling a wreck to see the thousands of fish and other sea creatures or tasting local specialties. We return to Miami for the final day.
Special Considerations for Sailing Trips to Bimini
All trips between Miami and the Bimini islands of the Bahamas are dependent on the weather. The 45-mile trip (8-10 hours by sailboat) involves crossing the Gulf Stream which can get rough, especially in the winter months. Our Miami to Bahamas charters are booked with the express understanding that if the winds are not calm enough, we will delay the crossing or spend the week in Biscayne Bay and the upper Florida Keys.
